Born in St. Petersburg, she graduated in 1995 from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, where she was a student of Professor Lyudmila Kovaleva. She became a resident with the Mariinsky Theater immediately after graduation, and she still performs on its stage. Just one year later, she made her debut on the country's main stage: the Bolshoi Theater. During that time, Diana Vishneva was also a desired artist in Europe's leading theater venues. In the following years, her name appeared in the playbills of Staatsballett in Munich, La Scala, Opera de Paris, Staatsoper in Berlin, and others. Her star roles in the ballets "Manon," "Sleeping Beauty," "Don Quixote," "Romeo and Juliet," "Giselle," and "La Bayadère" still stir the hearts of ballet enthusiasts around the world. Moreover, Diana Vishneva was one of the first Russian ballet dancers who managed to hold the prima ballerina position in two theaters simultaneously: the Mariinsky Theater and the American Ballet Theater (ABT), where she debuted in 2003.
