Valley of Hype: The Culture that Built Elizabeth Holmes

Overview

Yahoo Finance has announced its first feature-length documentary from Yahoo Finance Presents, Valley of Hype: The Culture that Built Elizabeth Holmes. Narrated by legal reporter Alexis Keenan, the film explores how Silicon Valley’s startup culture influenced the rise and collapse of Theranos and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes, who faced criminal fraud charges over allegations that she deceived investors. The documentary examines a culture that can prioritize ambitious pitches over proven results and questions whether it contributed to Holmes’ actions and success. It also investigates the role and due diligence of the financial, political, and academic figures who supported Theranos, once valued at $9 billion. Valley of Hype features exclusive interviews with people connected to the company, including former board member Dan Warmenhoven and bioengineer Jocelyn Bailey, as well as experts discussing Silicon Valley’s evolution and influence.
