Nyai Srigati, a famous ronggeng dancer who reigns over the Pasir Ronggeng region, is the object of many men’s desires. Not only is she beautiful, but she also always stirs men’s passions when she dances on stage. One day, a dancer from the neighboring village—Nyai Lenggini—arrives in the village. Nyai Lenggini is a legendary ronggeng dancer. Every performance of hers always draws gasps of admiration from the audience. This situation upsets Nyai Srigati, driving her to take Nyai Lenggini’s life. Nyai Lenggini’s spirit then seeks revenge—including against the college students who are in the area for a field study.
